West exit, since 2006 Lazona Kawasaki Plazaラゾーナ川崎プラザ
What the west exit is for: a shopping complex joined straight to the station, opening onto a broad plaza set beneath a long roof. It went up in 2006 on the ground of Toshiba's Horikawacho works, raised by the company's predecessor in 1908 and shut in 2000 — the west side was rebuilt in one piece around it.

Arcade since 1949 Ginryugai Shopping Arcade銀柳街
A river called the Furukawa was filled in to make this street, which went up after the war as relief work for the jobless. Its arcade roof is genuinely movable — the association opens it for visiting school groups — and the street bills itself as one of flowers and stained glass.
