• Since 1980 Plare Matsudoプラーレ松戸

  The east side’s everyday shopping block, trading since 1980 and under the Plare name since 1998: built around a full-line general store, with floors of specialty shops stacked above it. An elevated walkway reaches its second-floor entrance straight from the central gates, so you get there without stepping onto a street.

• Since 1839 Kasaiya Kimono Shop葛西屋呉服店

  A kimono dealer trading on the old Mito highway since 1839, when the founder set up in what was then the post town of Matsudo, and seven generations of the same family have kept it going since. The clay-walled storehouse they raised in 1880 still stands behind the shop, its doorway now opening indoors off the sales floor.

• Former Isetan block Kite Mite Matsudoキテミテマツド

  An eleven-floor block at the station's west exit that housed Matsudo's Isetan from 1974 until the department store closed in 2018, reopened a year later as something looser — not one retailer over every floor but a stack of unrelated tenants, with shops and restaurants sharing the building alongside clinics, schools and public service counters.

• Old Mito-kaido Matsudo-shuku, the old Mito-kaido松戸宿（旧水戸街道）

  Roughly a kilometre of street that the town grew along — the third stage out of Edo on the Mito highway, the second beyond Senju — running south from the station blocks through Honcho with the Sakagawa alongside. Little of the Edo timber survives, and a marker rather than a building now stands where the honjin was, but the old trades kept their frontages: a kimono house, senbei and sweet counters, tofu makers and greengrocers. Read it on foot; the interest is in the frontages, not in any one shop.
